With a diameter of 128 cm and a map with a scale of 1:10 million, this giant globe is the first globe of this size to be serially produced in the world.
The production process essentially consists of five important operations:
CARTOGRAPHY
The cartography is derived from digital data based on an Geographical Information System (GIS). The data is of outstanding cartographic quality and can be easily modified or supplemented for special production runs, i.e. with cruise lines and airlines or the branch offices of an international corporation. This cartographic data is then converted into a segment projection.
PRINTING
The globe segments are printed on special globe paper in low-volume production runs using a special digital printing process.
LAMINATION
The manual lamination of the individual globe segments on the surface of the globe is the most critical and time consuming part of the entire globe production process. Many years of experience is required for this seldom practiced handwork.
LACQUER COAT
After the lamination, an acrilic lacquer is sprayed.
GLOBE INSTALLATION
After sufficient drying, the globe is placed inside the pre-built stainless steel globe frame.
